2017 Creators Meme

I was tagged by Nezumi for this meme, so here we go ^__^

Last year was a mixed bag for me in terms of creativity, something I’m working to remedy in 2018.  However, there were a few bright spots.  I drew a lot more than I have in the past few years.  Not colored, finished pieces, but lots of sketching and lineart, which I found to be quite enjoyable.  There was also writing, both the regular rps and another Christmas collection that was gifted to Nezu.  So even if I didn’t photograph my dolls as much as I wanted or managed much else in the way of creative production, the year wasn’t a total wash.

One.  At the beginning of the year I managed to snap a few photos of my dolls.  One of my favorite shoots was of Chibi! Zeph for his birthday last February.  So smol, so cute, and so much adorable froggy hat.  The special appearance by Jun Plushie simply makes the shot complete.

Two.  On Halloween I drew several of both my and Nezu’s boys dressed in Final Fantasy costumes.  We had a Black Mage (Sashi), a white Moogle (Jun), a black Moogle (Zeph), a Geomancer (Roin), and a White Mage (Lan).  I had a lot of fun researching the outfits (although I added my own touches to the Black and White Mage outfits) and recalling why I have always enjoyed the Final Fantasy franchise.  This was the first time in a while that I’d set out to do a series of drawings and actually managed to complete them, so I was really happy with the end result.

Three.  I have two small fry nieces, and this year I thought it would be nice to include a surprise in their Christmas card.  I drew little pics of each of them in winter outfits and they pretty much lost their business.  After a facetime session involving a lot of little girl squealing, I was informed via text that they had shown them to their friends and teachers.  Their excitement was pretty adorable.

Four.  Regular stick on Christmas gift tags are boring, so this year I completed my second large project of the year and drew individual tags for each gift I sent to Nezu and Selene.  One theme was all old school Super Mario and the other was Nezu’s original characters from Angel Hunt.  They’re not super elaborate by any means, but they do add a lot of fun under the tree.

Five. Last year I completed a story collection as one of Nezu’s Christmas gifts and this year I did another one.  Eight original short stories involving our characters, some AU, some what if? and some RU.  I really liked all of them and could include them all here, but for the sake of just choosing one, I had a lot of fun writing Sashi and Lan’s Two Sides story.  It’s posted here.

So that was 2017.  I’m looking forward to having a lot more to post when I do this meme again at the beginning of next year.
